A visit with family

I had the most wonderful time in North Carolina this weekend. I was able to meet and visit with so many members of my family. In three and a half days I felt like I really reconnected with everyone, and was able to get to know them all over again. Many memories were shared, and new ones made.

It's so amazing to see the little ones running around and think that I did the same exact thing in the same places just a short 15 years ago...then again, I suppose 15 years isn't a short time, really. Seeing them really excites me about having children of my own. Amy and I are looking forward to that day!

I've not got much more to say now. Have to get ready to go back into work!

Here's a little pic I'm currently messing around with...click on it and you can order a pack of 8 postcards for 8 bones...however, if you think you want a pack, wait until around Monday to order as I'm going to put a better copy up (the right side got cut off of this one). I'm slowly trying to add stuff, so keep checking back! And again, let me know if you have anything you'd like made.

Here's a video I put together of some stuff we've done...very short, just a preview...Kind of bored, nothing to do.

Get this video and more at MySpace.com

My grandpa Walker sent me a pic of his pond taken last month. It brings back alot of memories as a kid. I remember fishing there everyday after school. And the "camping trips" the family would have were always great! It's really turned into a beautiful hidden getaway.Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Update

Well, I'm not sure what happened with this whole blogger.com/blogspost.com thing, but it seemed to be down for awhile.

Have any of you ever read any of Arianna Huffington's stuff? Yeah, it makes me want to devote my life to derailing libbies stupid views and opinions. It's as though they're blinded by their own stupidity. And I'm not trying to be mean or anything. It's just that if you read some of this stuff from an unbiased and independent point of view, you realize just how contradicting Democrats can be. One point (and there are many more!) that I find appalling is this: They generally believe we should "bring the troops home". For what? They say it will make America safer, that by waging this war she's become more vulnerable. How so? If we leave now, Iraq will crumble. Syria or Iran will take over. Soldiers deaths would stand for nothing. And the enemy would have won. On top of that, they wouldn't just quit killing people. 911, anybody? Repeat. Over and over. If we don't defeat the enemy on their turf, it'll be on ours. How would you like going to the store and having to worry the entire time about a roadside bomb going off in the intersection? Or being kidnapped and having them videotape you while they cut your head off? Dave Matthews put it pretty nicely..."If you close your eyes because the house is on fire/And think you couldn't move until fire dies/The things you never did, oh, 'cause you might die tryin/cause you might die tryin', you'd be as good as dead ". Here's what the Libs want to do. Have the troops come home...well, just because you turn your back and pretend there isn't an evil presence in the world seeking out helpless people doesn't mean it's not there. Let me just make this little analogy...a person goes to college to become a teacher. They graduate and decide it's time to find a job. Whatever should they do? Try to get on with the fire department? Go work at the water sanitation plant? No. They teach. A person joins the military, knowing full well what the job entails. They graduate basic...time to find a job! Don't despair, though. The government has one just for you! Soldiers are soldiers. IT IS OUR JOB TO FIGHT. And we DON'T COME HOME TILL THE JOB IS FINISHED. Guess what. If we came back to the states, you know what we'd be doing? The same thing we always do in the states...train. What do you think a soldier does every day back home. We wake up and go to work, just like you. Only our work involves going over house clearing techniques, how to stop arterial bleeding, how to disassemble and reassemble a Browning .50 caliber machine gun. So, if we came home, we'd train...and the Dems would have it that we never fought another war...so, all those tax dollars that pay our huge paychecks would be a waste. I spent almost two years in the states training to come here. Why train and not use it? If we don't police the world, NOBODY WILL. We are required to because we're the most competent. These are simple principles. However, it seems as though some people can't understand this. I'm sorry if any of you are Democratic. It must suck being surrounded by idiots.

Anyway, I apologize for that little rampage. I'm engaged to Amy! And I'll be home in September, and out for good by mid January. I'll post here more often now that I know it works. I love you all!

Fun times!

Well, been busy, as usual.

I was gunning the other night and initiated a firefight. I observed 5 dismounts in the woodline with AK-47s and a suspicious looking package. It was after curfew, and they had apparently just fired on a broken down semi in that same area. So, we rolled up there and I scanned for them, only taking 5 minutes or so to locate and confirm that they did infact have weapons

The transmission in my Humvee went out, leaving me with no reverse or overdrive. In the middle of a firefight. Luckily, they weren't very good shots! They did almost hit my buddy Matt, but we were superior in firepower. And right after my tranny went out, Matt's truck got a flat! Nice, huh? But, we're blessed beyond belief to have yet to sustain a casualty. Hopefully it stays that way!

Not much new....

Well, not a whole lot going on here. We've been busy, but not with the insurgents...just other boring crap.

I did watch the entire 1st and half of the 2nd seasons of "Lost". It was quite intriguing, but I was disappointed to come to the last episode on the disk. Just have to wait till the rest of it comes out on DVD.

A breath of fresh air.

The chaplain recently came to our tent and held a little bible study. It was quite refreshing, I must say. I've been starved of spiritual food here, as the schedule is so crazy. A few other guys attended and seemed to enjoy it as well. Also, one of my buddies, Matt, and I are going to read the bible from cover to cover. He's never read a single passage. But he wants to do it. So, hopefully, he doesn't get discouraged! I know many strong Christians who have given up this daunting task. So, pray for us!

Other than that, not much new is going on. Just living day to day, dreaming of my future with Amy.

Busy, busy, busy!

Wow, have things picked up out here. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to lose my mind. I'm always trying to do to many things, and I've got about five hundred million more going on in my head. I really need to slow down mentally. And, I think I might need glasses. Trouble focusing on close objects/words, headaches, and my left eyelid WON'T stop twitching! I can't wait to come home!!!

The beautiful beginning of one thing is often the tragic ending of another.

I came across this "blog service" via a post on my Aunt Ambers xanga site. And I must say, I find this to be a refreshing view of the same old same old. So, we’ll see how this works out.

>> How about Dick Cheney shooting his lawyer? Isn’t that something? Normally you’d hear about this type of stuff in the evening news, and it would involve a homeless guy and some junkie. In this instance, it was the vice president of the most powerful nation in the world, and the one man who would defend him were he to shoot someone else. Now, though, his lawyer is probably the only person in history who can say he’s been shot by the vice-president. However, I suppose there have been VP’s previously in the military who shot men. Those shot though I’m sure were not citizens of the United States, let alone the VP’s right hand man. Interesting thought.

>> Amy and I have decided to observe Lent this year. She did last year, giving up coffee and chocolate. This year, we’re both giving up complaining/being negative. And we’re going to keep journals. Perhaps I’ll use this as my outlet of positive thinking.
